I'll actually probably never get to them. I'll definitely be buying the Harry Potter book/s soon. I do remember when they showed those lines on tv and I remember some of the awesome outfits the people were wearing - cosplaying as the characters from the books.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16067832447156921940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290465550269613725.post-87075886747205735792014-03-05T20:29:57.778-06:002014-03-05T20:29:57.778-06:00I can definitely understand what you mean about th...I can definitely understand what you mean about the bandwagon thing. I have felt that way before, but I grew up waiting in line at midnight for the HP book releases, so I just love them! It's been in the back of my mind way to long for me to just keep ignoring it. The few things I've actually seen/read that follows the same basic plot, I didn't really like. However, I have heard some good things about the characters and that, over plotline, is what I get attached to in books. So, yes, it does have a chance - although that is a small one, but I won't say II'll never read the books. I do remember telling my brother that, if I could find the movie for five bucks, I might buy it. Once the movie went down in price though, I had completely lost interest. As for the Harry Potter books... Honestly, I probably get to them before too much longer. I've never really been one to jump on the 'bandwagon' when things first come out and are popular. The popularity seems to have died off a little by now. At least the fans of the books still like them - which means to me that they weren't the next (or, rather, last) big fad. The Hunger Games don't really interest me much because of the whole plotline. I might eventually read them, but I've got so many other books I want to read that sound so much more my style that it will be a really long time, if ever, before I do read them. At least the Percy Jackson books do sound fun - as well as Rick Riordan's other stuff - so I will probably get to them. The reason why there are so many books that compare themselves to that series is because it is SO good. I haven't read Harry Potter since elementary school, so, it's kind of like I haven't read it? I am going to try to reread that series over the summer. And, I've never read any Meg Cabot either, but I don't really like Chick-Lit either.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15107515027151518406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290465550269613725.post-32118489842744659212014-03-04T18:21:21.800-06:002014-03-04T18:21:21.800-06:00Ah! So much to say! haha. First of all, you're...Ah! So much to say! haha. First of all, you're not missing too much by avoiding Stephanie Meyer. While I bought into the Twilight phase, I was not too impressed with the books. I didn't read her other book The Host, but have been told by many not to read it, and that is usually enough for me. My middle school students are trying to get me to read the Percy Jackson series (as they are in 6th grade), and I will probably given in and eventually so so. I LOVE, love, love the Harry Potter series. Not just for the story, but because the way that J.K. Rowling writes is spectacular; she has wonderful craft. As for Suzanne Collins and The Hunger Games, I'm a little wishy washy. The first book too me MONTHS to get through. I just didn't really enjoy it. After seeing the second movie, I decided to give the series another try and read Catching Fire, which I enjoyed much more than the first. Then Mockingjay came along...and yeah, kind of wish I hadn't wasted the time. Great list! Well, if I can assuage your fears about reading Rick Riordan - middle grade is really not my thing either, but the Percy Jackson books are some of my all-time favorites. They never come across as overly juvenile, and as the series progresses, the books progress along with the characters. They really are SO good.

And I loooooved the movie Timeline!! The book is really quite different, but I really really really enjoyed it, as well.
